The American Lung Association issued its annual State of the Air Report today, a report that has traditionally seen a grade of ‘F’ year in and year out for Imperial County.

The news conference offered local viewpoints from the American Lung Association, the office of Air Pollution Control and the Clean Air Initiative.

Imperial Valley residents were asked Wednesday what they think of the local air quality.

“Other than by the Salton Sea, I think it’s all right. I think it could be fresher, and I wish there wasn’t so much smoke.”

Arturo Borreli

“It’s pretty bad on the days that they’re burning fields. It really messes the air up.”
