Clean Air Initiative
Goal
The purpose of the Clean Air Initiative is to improve the air quality and health of residents in Imperial County and the Mexicali border region through education, advocacy, and support.
Partners
Clean air Initiative Coalition Members include: Health Care Agencies, Environmental Health / Justice agencies and nonprofit organizations, air quality grassroots organizations; Imperial Valley community members; etc.
How can you get involved?
Any member of the public who is concerned about air quality issues and supports and will further the goal of the CAI can join the CAI coalition. The CAI Coalition meets once a month. For specific dates, times, and locations please contact the CAI Coordinator.
OBJECTIVES
- Host Clean Air Initiative Coalition meetings that include health care, environmental justice agencies, and community to address environmental threats to air quality.
- Heber Elementary- Air Quality Flag Program
- Education/Awareness Campaign about the affects of air quality on health
- Measure particulate matter to support local advocacy to address air quality
- Development of and Advocacy & Community Leadership plan and propose solutions for addressing air quality concerns Increase public participation by residents to local officials and administrative bodies on air quality and asthma
- Heber Community Watch Program- Educate/Reduce exposure to agricultural burning and pesticide spraying
